The dual mode can also ease the digital migration process. Apex 1000 features AMBE+2 as its vocoder which provides advanced voice quality. The AMBE+2 was traditionally reserved for satellite systems and has only recently become available for radio applications. This is a full power licenced radio and does require an Ofcom licence.
