Recognised Once Again: Apex Retains SafeContractor Certification
At Apex Radio Systems, maintaining the highest standards of health & safety and environmental sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We’re delighted to announce that we have successfully achieved our SafeContractor Sustainability and Health & Safety certification for the 6th year running.
How Apex Implements Health & Safety for Staff
Nothing is more important to Apex than the safety and well-being of staff. Our fully trained health & safety team meets regularly to review procedures, identify potential risks and ensure the well-being of our employees, customers, contractors and members of the public who may be affected by our activities. Our health & safety policies and arrangements reflect our commitment to the provision of a safe working environment. They also clearly define the duties and responsibilities for managing health and safety across our workplace. Achieving this certification demonstrates that our policies, procedures and risk management processes meet rigorous industry standards.
How Apex Supports Environmental Sustainability
We take environmental sustainability seriously and have significantly reduced our carbon footprint. Since relocating to a single office in 2023, we have reduced the energy required to operate our business while creating opportunities to further improve our environmental performance. Many of our team members now drive hybrid or fully electric vehicles, supported by EV charging facilities and our headquarters, further reducing our carbon footprint. By working with the local council. We’ve been able to increase our WEEE recycling, and where we can, we reuse any cardboard boxes that arrive at Apex HQ, as well as receiving spare boxes from neighbouring offices and staff members. We’ve also incorporated some easy-to-implement wins, including energy-saving measures such as turning off electronics, using automatic sensor lights, and using eco-friendly office supplies. Achieving our SafeContractor Sustainability certification demonstrates our ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental impact and moving towards a more sustainable future.
What Does This Mean For Our Customers?
For our customers, this certification provides the confidence that Apex operates responsibly, safely and sustainably. Our policies, risk assessments and compliance procedures have been independently assessed, providing you with assurance that you’re working with a trusted supplier.
When you receive a parcel from Apex, you may notice that the outer packaging isn’t perfect. This is due to our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint. We aim to reuse packaging materials whenever possible. We’re always on the lookout for cardboard boxes that can be repurposed for our customers’ shipments. In 2024, a project was launched to ensure we reuse as many boxes at Apex HQ. Not only do we reuse anything we receive, but our amazing employees bring any spare boxes they have, and some of our neighbouring offices regularly provide any spare boxes they have. While the outer packaging may occasionally show signs of previous use, every shipment is carefully packaged to ensure your equipment arrives safely. By reusing packaging whenever possible, you’re reducing waste without compromising on product quality or customer service.
What It Means To Apex
Our Quality Controller, Nicola Burns, states: “From the outset, the team at SafeContractor has consistently demonstrated a high level of expertise and professionalism, providing invaluable support throughout the annual certification process. Their guidance is clear, thorough, and tailored to ensure that Apex meets all accreditation requirements efficiently and with confidence. The documented evidence requirements are communicated effectively, making the process straightforward and manageable. As a result of the exceptional service we have received over many years, we have also adopted their SafePlanet solution to support the production of our annual carbon reports. Both services are user-friendly, cost-effective, and backed by excellent customer support. I would have no hesitation in recommending both SafeContractor and SafePlanet to any organisation looking to begin or enhance its SSIP accreditation and carbon reporting journey.“
Achieving SafeContractor Health & Safety and Sustainability certification for the 6th year running reflects Apex’s continued commitment to operating responsibly, protecting our people and reducing our environmental impact. We remain focused on identifying new ways to improve and ensuring that sustainability and safety remain at the heart of everything we do.
